Through radio broadcasts, interviews, and as a parenting and family relationship coach, Erin helps families worldwide -- guiding with practical advice for more successful (and less stressful) parenting. Erin contributed five years as a columnist with www.mommasaid.net, a Forbes "Best of the Web" site for stay-at-home moms.

As an author and writer, Erin helps new authors and writers grow in their skills. Erin designed and teaches the College-Level Writing Skills Distance Learning course for Patrick Henry College in Virginia. Her newest book, Simplified Writing 101: Writing Secrets for College Success, a concise, witty guide for excellent academic writing, is due out in 2009. A member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI), Erin coaches a Young Authors group for aspiring  young authors. Beyond nonfiction, Erin writes young adult (YA) fiction, fantasy, and women's fiction.

Erin's teaches seminars and courses for adults, teens, and children on healthy family relationships (Respectful, Connected Kids), education (the teaching of reading & writing, preparing for college), and child education (teaching to individuals, learning styles, and mastery learning). From 2001 to 2008, Erin taught in the Professional and Graduate Studies Division at Cornerstone University as adjunct faculty in Leadership, Individual and Group Behavior, Motivation and Behavior, Conflict Management & Negotiation, Organizational Development, Strategic Management, Health and Wellness, and Writing. 

Erin shares from solid academic background and experience. Erin received her bachelor's degree in education (1981) and master's degree in rehabilitation (1991) from Western Michigan University.  Her experience crosses a wide range of environments, from classroom instruction to one-on-one special education instruction to university instruction of adult leaders. As an expert in education and child development, Erin's served on professional and parent boards since the early 80's. Erin connects with and inspires “special family and child populations” in personal speaking engagements, including adoptive families and professionals, educators, and home schooling families. A speaker to audiences for over 15 years, she continues to enjoy meeting people at conferences and workshops all across the nation. Erin's a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and has consulted with families and their children since the late 1970's. She's a long-time member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).

Erin's credibility and expertise is grounded in the practical daily life as parent of 13 children ranging in age from nine to 29, with personal experience regarding physical, emotional, and developmental challenges, adoption and attachment issues, single and step parenting questions, gifted children, ADHD, FAS, educational concerns, learning differences, and behavioral issues. Three of her children are by birth, two are step sons through her blended family, and eight of Erin’s children are adopted from various backgrounds, abilities, and cultures from around the world. Whether it's through speaking to audiences or helping families one-on-one, it's especially nice to have an "expert" with credibility that comes through personal experience.

But more importantly, Erin relates in authentic, straightforward connection to every day people. Personal and clear communication, high motivation, and healthy practical living are what Erin’s all about.

Erin travels from Michigan, where she lives with her husband, Shawn, and 5 of their 13 children still living at home.
